Currency Converter — Quick Indicative Rates

Pick a from-currency and a to-currency, enter an amount. CalcWize converts using indicative reference rates that approximate the live mid-market rate. Useful for sanity-checking prices abroad, comparing offers in different currencies, or estimating travel budgets — not for executing a real trade.

Why these rates aren't live

Live FX requires a paid feed. CalcWize uses recent reference rates that drift slightly day-by-day — fine for "is this restaurant expensive?", not fine for "should I lock in this transfer?". For real transactions, use your bank or a dedicated FX site.

Mid-market vs. retail rate

CalcWize approximates the mid-market rate — the midpoint between the buy and sell quotes that big banks trade at. The rate you actually get from a bureau de change, a card transaction abroad, or a transfer service is always worse: typically 1–4% on top via spread, plus any flat fee. To estimate what you'll really pay, take the CalcWize figure and add 2% as a rule of thumb.

Currencies supported

Twenty-five major currencies: USD, GBP, EUR, ZAR, CAD, AUD, NZD, JPY, CNY, TWD, KRW, HKD, SGD, THB, IDR, MYR, INR, CHF, BRL, MXN, SEK, RON, BGN, RUB, and UAH. Each is shown with its native symbol and ISO code. Pick from the searchable currency picker to switch the calculator's display currency for the whole app.

Frequently asked questions

Are these live exchange rates?
No. They are indicative reference rates that drift slightly day to day — fine for estimates and travel budgeting, but not for executing a real transfer or trade.
Why is the rate I actually get worse?
Banks and bureaux add a spread (typically 1–4%) plus fees on top of the mid-market rate. As a rule of thumb, add about 2% to estimate what you’ll really pay.
Can it convert cryptocurrency?
No — it handles major fiat currencies only.

How we calculate it

Amounts are converted using stored indicative reference rates that approximate the mid-market rate: converted amount = amount × (target rate ÷ source rate). The rates are not a live market feed.

What it doesn't do

  • Booking real trades (use a bank, broker, or remittance service)
  • Crypto, commodities, or any non-fiat currency
